Problems
Loss and damages are among problems for which you need protection; however other little problems may occur: here are practical solutions.
The amount charged is higher then what was negociated
Did your estimate show a global amount or an hourly rate? Hourly rate is usually the norm. When getting an estimate, supply all necessary details and use a distance calculator to give accurate information: you will avoid surprises.
When your moving professionals are not very professional
Call the moving company and note on the contract any problem that occurred during the move such as dented boxes, damaged material etc.
The rental truck was damaged without your knowledge: the company claims the deductible
You can lodge a complaint at your car association or a the Consumer's Protection Office.
To be safer, get a few estimates from well established companies and always deal with ACQ registered companies. You can consult their listings by visiting the Commission des transports du Quebec website. Or by calling at: Avoid "so-called" moving companies (also known as pirate movers): they are never insured |
